Prologue
And we’re back. The kids are now all applied to go to high school in New York City. Just you try to do that with triplets. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
In the meantime, we’re getting closer to actual space, and I promise you that there’s a twist you didn’t see coming, so stay with me for the next few episodes.
And with that, order your lunch, roll sound, and action.

More Chicken Caesar Intrigue
We went directly to Figure 2 Ranch this morning and set up for the interviews with the Brothers Bezos. The dogs kept us smiling as we assembled the shots and got into position. Jeff and Mark are both super excited to go, and will definitely sign up for repeat trips. No one knows how their perspectives will change once Earth is viewed from the thin limb of the atmosphere, but something will certainly shift. And there's tequila in the Tang. TNT!
Okay, let's get to the real heart of the matter. Apparently, Sean and Matt are BIG FANS of the chicken Caesar salad from Boots N' Scoops, and yesterday's review of said dish ruffled some feathers. In fact, I was told, they order it EVERY DAY. Matt, proving his point, told me that there's nothing to complain about; the croutons are "garlicky and crunchy." Ok, fine - they nailed the croutons-out-of-the-Sysco-bag maneuver and as the saying goes, "Croutons are like the diamonds of the salad world." But c'mon, that's a layup! As to my suggestion that they keep the chicken intact, perhaps slicing it into strips (like every other chicken caesar in the solar system), I was absolutely pilloried. Matt went right for my heart stating that he likes the shredded presentation - it makes the meal. Sean then flanked me, exclaiming that all he needs is water, caffeine, and vegetables. Ok, I know when I'm outgunned. But I'm so sorry, my brothers, we were meant for greater things.
So what did I have? Well, of course, I got the Jacked Up Club in a garlic-herb wrap. It was fine. Unobtrusive. Inoffensive. Slathered in mayo and engaged to a garden side salad. And, I got my vegetables too, Sean. I just didn't have to suffer the feeling of being waterboarded by a pile of limp, parched, protein fowl. Donny had my back on this. He too knows the solid satisfaction of a lunchtime wrap. It is the laborer of lunch, the masonry upon which an afternoon may be built.
But, I am a man of reason. And being so, I will follow in the footsteps of my spiritual epicurean mentor, Pete Wells, and revisit the dish two more times. Therefore, tomorrow I will again order the Chicken Caesar. I may, however, ask for the chicken to not be shredded. I think that's a fair request. But I will still give it no quarter in the Thunderdome arena of chowtime.
After lunch, we went to the ATC for some lighting tweaks and I set up the recorders and two flight suits. Crew Member 8 was working overtime on the floors. Snack jars were being filled, and Sheva was watching the clock.
Then we went to the helicopter hangar, and once again I was awed by the shimmering beauty of the flying machines. Like black dolphins, waiting to be loosed into the sea, these beasts were gorgeous testaments to engineering and design. They stood charmed, clearly eager to travel to some mythical destination that only birds had ever visited. We rigged them with GoPros and a recorder, handed Bob the slate, and then Donny clutched his St. Christopher medallion, quietly praying for a safe and fruitful flight. Amen.
Sean and I saw a rainbow on the way back to the hotel while listening to Metallica. Quesadilla and sides for dinner - thank you Donny for showing me the way.
Training Day tomorrow!
